DISASTER RESPONSE TEAMS

The members of our Disaster Response Team are on call and prepared to respond to a catastrophe any time, anywhere. Historical uses of our Disaster Response Teams have included cleanup from hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, straight-line wind storms, flooding and fires. Our disaster readiness plan is in place, allowing us to mobilize our team of professionals, and load our vast inventory of drying and dehumidification equipment on our semitrailers at a moments notice. With one call to NCRI, your emergency becomes our emergency and we will respond with the necessary personnel and equipment anywhere in the nation to direct your emergency mitigation needs and complete your restoration process.

EMERGENCY RESTORATION DIVISION

Our highly trained and professional technicians are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, to respond to your emergency needs resulting from damage due to fire, water, smoke, wind, tornado, hurricane, earthquake or any other natural or man-made cause.

WATER: Broken pipes, flooded basements, leaking sprinkler systems, washer hoses, sump pumps, rainwater, leaking roofs . . . water knows very few boundaries. When it goes where it shouldn't, call on NCRI to remove the water and implement drying and dehumidification procedures. We will treat and deodorize affected areas to address health hazards common with water damage. Quick response and treatment is imperative in reducing further damage due to mold or mildew. NCRI technicians are trained in effectively handling water damage to structure and contents, including document drying. With one of the largest inventories of drying equipment in the nation, NCRI will provide large truck-mounted desiccant dehumidifiers and thousands of individual drying fan units to expedite the drying process in large commercial structures.

FIRE: The effects of a fire will often be serious. But NCRI will dispatch our team of professional restoration technicians to handle the clean up operation and help reduce the impact of your loss. The remaining structure and contents not directly damaged by the fire are typically coated with a fine black residue from the soot of the fire. The soot is usually swept through the air ducts of the structure by the air handling units. Mix that soot with the humidity that results from the effect of water on flames, and you have an acidic residue that will continue to cause further damage the longer it is allowed to remain. With a fire, you typically have the compounded restoration needs caused by fire, smoke, odor and water. Our professional staff, including our founder, who himself is a Certified Restorer and Certified Mechanical Hygienist, know how to effectively mitigate the loss.

WIND: Tornadoes, hurricanes, sudden downbursts and straight-line winds are quite often responsible for devastating damage. With roofs removed or windows broken, furnishings and equipment are left exposed to further damage from the elements. In addition to offering board-ups, tarping and temporary roof repairs. NCRI brings a new element to property protection in the form of shrinkwrap. Utilizing a superior strength plastic, the shrinkwrap process applies a plastic sheet over the exposed roof, wall, window, door, etc., and adheres it to the structure through a heat element system.

ADVANCED TECHNICAL SERVICES DIVISION

DRY ICE BLASTING: New, innovative, technologically advanced, and a specialized service of NCRI!

Historical surface cleaning methods such as chemical cleaning, water blasting, sandblasting, soda, and steam cleaning have now been joined by the new innovative method of dry ice blasting. Unlike other methods that typically cause residue and might involve environmental concerns, dry ice disintegrates upon impact. Therefore, it does not generate any secondary waste deposit, and leaves nothing to attract further contaminants.

This method uses small, rice sized particles of dry ice as the primary cleaning media. With the application of air pressure, these dry ice pellets are directed at a high velocity toward the surface being cleaned. Upon impact, the dry ice converts into a harmless gas (CO2), while the material being removed usually turns to a light dust that can easily be vacuumed. The CO2 also serves to disinfect the surface area, further aiding in the clean-up operation.

The dry ice particles are stored in an insulated container and have a typical shelf life of five to seven days. With the use of a portable dry ice unit and blasting nozzles, the detrimental materials can be removed effectively and efficiently. By controlling the air speed and pellet size, the dry ice process can be used on everything from walls and ceilings to transformers and switch gears. Applications have included: building exteriors/interiors, heating/air conditioning systems, bricks, concrete, wood, electronic equipment, motors, printing presses, robotic equipment, ovens, floors, manufacturing equipment, piping, parts, tanks, ship hulls, oil field equipment, aircraft, graffiti removal, etc.

The dry ice system operates from a compressor, thus does not require electricity. It does require the use of safety equipment, including eye and ear protection, as well as breathing mask.

SHRINKWRAP PROPERTY PROTECTION: In addition to providing boarding-up and tarping to cover exposed areas in a structure, NCRI is a specialist in the innovative method of applying shrinkwrap property protection. Shrinkwrap is a virgin vinyl material that holds up to the weather elements and doesn’t degrade. It is lighter weight than heavy plywood and offers easier application than large tarpaulins. With the use of heat, the shrinkwrap shrinks and conforms to whatever structure or item is beneath it, establishing a vapor barrier wall. It shrinks in both length and width, up to 50% x 50%. When the virgin material shrinks, its consistency is changed dramatically, making it thicker and very taut.

Business interruption is critical for a commercial property, and shrinkwrap can help expedite the return to normal business operations. With the superior quality of containment that shrinkwrap offers, further damage can be prevented by eliminating dust and other material from infiltrating unaffected areas.

DOCUMENT DRYING: Valuable documents can be restored! The experienced technical staff of NCRI will utilize advanced treatment and drying methods to ensure that documents damaged from water or smoke are salvageable. When records, reports, books, or vital paper documents are damaged from water or smoke, call on NCRI. Whether utilizing advanced freeze-dry methods or the traditional air circulation application, vital documents and records will be restored and countless hours of potential recreation time can be avoided.

AIR QUALITY CONTROL DIVISION

With NADCA Certified specialist NCRI can offer solutions to air quality problems. With the most advanced methods in the industry, NCRI will assist with air scrubbing equipment, air duct cleaning, and mold and mildew mitigation to improve indoor air quality.

AIR DUCT CLEANING: Air ducts supply necessary air circulation and ventilation. But when ducts are saturated with dust, odor, smoke, mildew, and other airborne contaminants, they can become a dangerous conduit, spreading contaminated particles to furniture, fixtures and, most importantly, to the individuals working or living in the structure. NCRI’s Air Quality Control Teams are highly trained and professional technicians, experienced in the cleaning of all types and sizes of ductwork.

MOLD & MILDEW REMEDIATION

MOLD AND MILDEW MITIGATION: For years the property management community has wrestled with indoor air quality issues. Quite often the search for the cause of alleged indoor air-related illnesses has focused on ventilation issues, such as poor air circulation or the presence of chemicals in the workplace. Recently, however, greater attention has been given to the "Sick Building Syndrome" and the effect of microbiological agents, such as Mycotoxins, Microbial Volatile Organic Compounds (mVOCs) and Allergens like Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Stachybotrys chartarum, and how they impact indoor air quality.

Buildings should be checked for mold as part of the routine maintenance. Look for evidence of water damage and visible mold. Conditions that cause mold such as water leaks, condensation, infiltration, or flooding, should be corrected immediately.

EQUIPMENT & POWER GENERATION DIVISION

NCRI maintains one of the largest inventories of drying equipment in the nation, including turbo fans, portable refrigerant dehumidifiers, large cargo air dehumidifiers, and truck-mounted desiccant dehumidifiers.

NCRI has a surplus of portable and truck mounted generators ready for on site delivery at a time of disaster. NCRI has affiliates throughout the US. So portable power and fuel delivery is a simple phone call away.
